How do you communicate with the people around you? Do you text? Email? Actually talk on the phone or face to face? I know when my husband and I first started dating we were not living within an hour of each other, so we Skyped and texted and talked on the phone. We made it work. Also, many of my friendships with you guys exist in our messages back and forth about topics ranging from books to couches (you know who you are) to the craziness of being a mom of littles. My experience with these forms of communication drew me to WHEN YOU READ THIS by Mary Adkins. Also, thank you to Harper for the free review copy of this wonderful book! #partner First of all, this book is entirely epistolary, which means it consists of emails and texts to tell the story. Correspondence is where we learn everything about the characters and what happens to them. People are identified by their email addresses and phone numbers. I have had a love for the epistolary form since reading DRACULA in undergrad, so this was such a pleasure for me to read.
- I also appreciated the character development in the ways that each of the characters was flawed and imperfect; yet, regardless of the flaws, I loved these characters and wanted to see them end up happy and well. I found myself rooting for them. - Also, this book was a super fast read for me because I just couldn’t put it down until I knew the end. Each section flowed so simply into the next that I just had to stay in this world and keep reading. - I really enjoyed this book, and I think you will to. It comes out tomorrow, so preorder it now!!! - Question for you: do you have any meaningful friendships that you keep up through digital communication? I’m always curious about this.
