One of my favorite things about reading with my daughters every night before bed is getting to see which books they love and what they relate to. This month one of the favorites is Muddypaws by Moira Butterfield and Simon Mendez. Muddypaws is the sweet story about a boy who gets a brand new puppy and is tasked with naming his dog. He searches around in books, in the park, and at a neighbor’s party, but he still can’t find anything just right. Eventually he lands on the perfect name, but you’ll have to read the book to find out what it is. My two year old loves this story so much right now. She enjoys the antics the puppy gets itself into, probably longing for when we give in and get her a puppy of her own. She giggles during most of the story as we read and begs to read it again and again once it’s done. I would recommend this book for two year olds and up. It is a little on the long end, about the length of Madeline, which can be challenging for some kids to sit through if they’re not the devoted book reader. I highly recommend you go check Muddypaws out. Here’s to finding a good book!
