I hate reading about other readers and all the books they read. Yes, I do find this complicated since I am a reader who writes about the books she reads. I do enjoy seeing what other people read because I love books so much, but it gives me so much book envy! Do you know what I'm talking about? It's that little part of me that wishes I could hole myself up in a little room with a comfortable chair, a book, and a cup of tea and read all day long. That little part of me never gets its way because I work full time, am married, and have two young children. So when I see what other people are reading I can't stand it! That's why I decided to write about the different types of book envy in this post. I know I'm not alone...some of you must experience the same things. And, if you have a different type of book envy that I don't mention here, make sure to leave it in the comments for us all to enjoy! 1. The "How Can She Read That Fast" Book Envy You know this one, right? I'm talking about that reader who reads a page in thirty seconds or less. It seems like they are always reading a new book each time I see them, even if I see them twice a day! How do they do it? I have no idea! But I wish I had those skills. Can you imagine how much I could read? These people are also the ones boasting high books read on their Goodreads challenge. How we all wish we could be you! 2. The "How Come He Got That Book So Early After It Came Out" Book Envy I follow the new releases lists pretty religiously. It is part of me having this blog, and I also love being able to give my students fun, new books to read. I am always jealous of that person who seems to always have the newest book. Whether they get these books from the publishers or just have access to that much money, I wish I were them! 3. The "I Have A Subscription Box...Or All Of Them" Book Envy I love subscription boxes, especially when they contain books, and I subscribe to two of them. But there are so many more, and they look fabulous! I mean, who doesn't want to get books in the mail ALL THE TIME? If I could figure out how they do that, that would be great! Also, the people who get all five Book of the Month books...I mean, how? 4. The "You Were Up How Late Reading" Book Envy I am always asleep by 11 pm except on very rare occasions, and I am always so jealous of people who can stay up late reading. I wish I could curl up with a book and read into the wee hours of the morning, but I just can't. Maybe I will figure this one out eventually, but I kind of doubt it since I like my sleep. 5. The "Your Library Is How Close" Book Envy You know the people I'm talking about. Their library is right across the street, and they always get all of their requests right on time. I envy those people so much! How much did you donate to your library? Like, do they have charter memberships that I missed out on? Please, please, please, share your secrets with us! That wraps up my ideas...let me know in the comments what types of book envy you experience or if you are one of the people listed above.
